Swiss Universities by Augusto Giacometti Poster

Swiss Universities by Augusto Giacometti is a striking early twentieth-century poster created for the Union Nationale des Étudiants de Suisse, promoting their Colonies de Vacances Universitaires. The composition presents a bold, abstracted Alpine landscape rendered in deep cobalt blues, sweeping purples, fiery reds, and warm amber oranges, with a whitewashed building anchoring the scene below. Giacometti's technique gives the surface a rich, almost textural crayon-like quality that feels entirely hand-worked, lending the piece an intimacy rarely found in commercial poster art of the era. The mood is one of youthful energy and wanderlust, rooted equally in Swiss modernism and the social idealism of student life between the wars.

The vivid, jewel-toned palette makes this print a strong focal point in a study, home library, or reading nook where its academic heritage feels at home. It also works well in a living room styled with mid-century modern or eclectic furnishings, where the bold colour contrasts and handcrafted aesthetic add genuine character rather than generic decoration. The warm reds and oranges bring energy without feeling aggressive, while the deep blues keep the overall mood grounded and contemplative.

Every print is produced on premium 200 g/m2 FSC certified paper with a museum-quality matte finish and sharp high-resolution output that honours Giacometti's layered, textured linework. Optional framing is available in black, white, or natural pine wood with shatterproof plexiglass, arriving ready to hang straight from the box.
