Morning in Nishibira, Izu is one of Hasui Kawase's quietly luminous landscape prints, capturing a rural Japanese village in the soft stillness of spring. Thatched-roof farmhouses sit nestled beneath mountains while cherry blossoms drift across a muted sky, the whole scene rendered in the layered, atmospheric style of early twentieth-century shin-hanga.
